Is Your Estate Plan Outdated?

  1. Has it been more than three years since you reviewed it?
  2. Have you been married, divorced or widowed since you signed your documents?
  3. Have you had children or grandchildren since you created your plan?
  4. If you have minor children, have they been provided for in your plan?
  5. If you created a trust in your plan—have you transferred all of your assets into the name of the trust?
  6. Is your power of attorney document more than 5 years old?
  7. Is your healthcare power of attorney document more than 5 years old?
  8. Has anyone named in your estate plan passed away?
  9. Have you bought or sold property since you updated your estate plan?
  10. Have you moved to another state since you created your plan?
  11. Has the value of any of your assets changed since you created your plan?
  12. Are all of your wishes completely laid out in your plan?
  13. Have you decided to change your listed beneficiaries?

If you answered YES to any one of these questions, it is a good idea to set an appointment to review your estate plan.  Remember that an estate plan is not a “once and done” document.
